This guide shows you how to control how a personalizable product looks in Google search results and in social-media link previews. It is for store owners who want each product page to have a clear title, a clean URL, and a meta description that reads well in search. You edit all of this in one place on the product page, and you can watch a preview update as you type.
The controls live in the SEO & social card, at the bottom of the product page’s main column. The SEO tab under the product header jumps straight to it. When the card is collapsed, it shows its name above a Google search preview, so you can always glance at how your product surfaces in search.
Title, handle, and meta description
These three fields decide how your product shows up in a Google search result: the headline, the link path, and the gray text underneath. Follow the steps below to set them.
Open the SEO & social card
On the product page, scroll to the SEO & social card and select its name to open it. The card is collapsed by default because the form is dense and is rarely the first thing you edit. The fields sit on the left and the previews on the right.
Write the page title
In the Page title field, write the headline customers see in Google. Aim for 30 to 60 characters. A counter next to the label shows your current length against 60 characters, and the hint below only changes colour when the length needs attention. When the length is good you will see “Good length.” If it is short you get a nudge to aim for 30 to 60 characters; if it runs long you are warned that Google may cut it off after about 60.
If you leave this empty, the product name is used as the title.
Set the URL handle
In the URL handle field, set the part of the link that identifies this product. The field shows the store’s address and /products/, and you type the handle after it (for example, custom-photo-mug). The handle takes lowercase letters, numbers and dashes; spaces become dashes as you type. This is the same slug used in the product link.
Write the meta description
In the Meta description field, write the gray text that appears under your title in search results. Aim for roughly 80 to 160 characters. The counter shows your length against 160 characters. When it is in range you will see “Just right.” If it is short, Google falls back to the page text; if it is long, Google may truncate after 160 characters.
Check the previews, then save
Beside the fields, switch between Google and Social share to see how the product can appear in a search result and in a shared link. The previews use the store the product is published on, or a placeholder address before it is published. They illustrate your title, handle, and description as you type; they are not a live Google result or a guarantee of search appearance. When you are happy, use the product page’s save bar, then review the publication update.
Product imagery and unavailable controls
The social-share preview uses the product’s cover photo, the first photo in its media. Select Change cover under the social-share preview to jump to the product photos. A separate social-share image uploader and per-locale SEO tabs are not available in the public dashboard, so do not look for an upload control or translated SEO tabs in this card.
For the product’s storefront images, use product images and mockups, then check the actual storefront after updating the publication.

Let AI suggest the title and meta description
When the card is open and your workspace can write text with AI, a Generate button sits in the card head. It writes a page title and meta description from the product name and description, and replaces both fields. If more than one AI source is connected, you choose which one to use in the panel that opens. Select Generate in the panel to run it, review the result, and save. Nothing saves until you use the save bar.
The button only appears when a connected source can write text: your workspace’s own AI key, or your own Personal ChatGPT connection with text access. Without one, there is no button. See connect an AI provider to set one up.
Let AI suggest the product description
The description shoppers read on the store page lives in the Overview section, next to the product name. The meta description falls back to it, so a good description helps both.
Open the description
In Overview, select Edit beside Description (or Add when it is empty). The editor opens in place; on a phone it opens full screen.
Open Write with AI
While you edit, Write with AI appears beside the label when a connected source can write text, the same sources as for SEO. Select it to open the panel.
Choose what AI should do
Pick Write a new description. Once the description has text, you can also pick Improve my text or Make it shorter. The panel says which source it uses. Select Generate.
Review the suggestion
The suggestion appears in the panel first, as plain text. Nothing changes until you choose. Select Replace to use it instead of your text, or Add below to keep your text and add it underneath. Try again writes a new suggestion and Discard drops it.
Finish and save
Select Done to close the editor. The character count under it turns red only when the description is too long to save. The new description goes to the page save bar like any other edit.
What if I leave the page title or description blank?
Composerie uses the product name as the title and the product description text as the meta description. Set custom values when you want the search listing to differ from the store page.
Why is there no Generate or Write with AI button?
Both only appear when a connected source can write text: your workspace's own AI key, or your own Personal ChatGPT connection with text access. Connect one, then return to the product.
Does AI change my description straight away?
No. Write with AI shows its suggestion first. Your description only changes when you choose Replace or Add below, and it is only saved when you use the save bar.
Where is the social-share image uploader?
A separate uploader is not available in the public dashboard. The social-share preview uses the product's cover photo, which you change in the product photos.
Why does the Google preview show even when the card is collapsed?
The search preview is the most-glanced part of the card, so it stays visible. The form fields and the social-share preview collapse with the rest of the card.
