Composerie separates two failures that need different fixes:
- A failure in Production means the print output could not be rendered. The production status reads Failed.
- A failure in dispatch means the provider handoff did not complete. Check the provider portal before assuming no order was created there.
The order is marked Needs attention so it does not look healthy while the affected step is stopped.
1. Read the failed stage
Open the order from Orders or from its notification. In the Production section, check the status, route, and error message before pressing anything.
For a render failure, common causes include an unreadable source image, insufficient image resolution, or a design element that is no longer available. Open View proof and the linked design when you need to inspect the customer input.
For a dispatch failure, check the provider connection and the product’s routing. A provider can reject an order because a credential expired, a mapped variant disappeared, or the requested shipping method is unavailable for the destination.
2. Correct the cause
- For a failed render, resolve the reported source or connection problem before using Re-render. The retry uses the order’s saved revision, not the latest product design.
- Open Integrations > Print providers when the connection is unhealthy.
- Compare the order’s recorded route with the product’s routing when a material or variant appears wrong. Changing product routing affects future orders; ask support how to recover the existing order.
- Confirm the order is still paid and has not been cancelled or refunded.
3. Retry once
For an eligible failed render, return to the order and select Re-render once. Check the response: it reports whether a render was actually queued. Retry, where shown in Production, uses the same render-retry action; it does not resubmit a failed provider order.
For a provider dispatch failure, keep the provider reference and error, check the provider portal, and contact support for the recovery path. Do not use render retry as a provider resend.
Do not repeatedly press Retry while the cause is unknown. The existing provider order ID and current stage are there to help you avoid creating conflicting work outside Composerie.
When to contact support
Contact support when the same corrected order fails again, when Composerie and the provider show different provider order IDs, or when a provider accepted the order but its status no longer updates. Include the Composerie order number and the exact error shown in Production.
Should I use Retry or Re-render?
Both use the render-retry action. Only an eligible failed render is re-queued. A provider dispatch failure needs its own recovery check; contact support with the provider reference and error.
Will Retry create a duplicate provider order?
Retry does not resubmit provider fulfillment. Check the existing provider order ID and contact support about a failed or uncertain handoff before creating any replacement order.
Why is Retry unavailable?
Availability depends on the recorded production state. Already queued, rendering, or completed jobs are not restarted, and work already dispatched or shipped is restricted. Read the response instead of assuming a new job was queued.
What should I send support?
Include the number shown at the top of the page, the failed stage, its route, and the complete error message from the Production section.
