The Orders list and order header show the recorded stage of the order. Payment, rendering, and provider acceptance are separate facts: a progress label alone does not prove all three succeeded.
Read the progress label
The main progress labels are:
- New: the order has been recorded. Check payment separately; this label does not mean it is paid.
- Preparing: work is being prepared. Check Production for the actual render state.
- In production: a provider reference or dispatch has been recorded. Confirm the matching provider order before relying on it.
- Printed: the self-print production milestone has been recorded. The header spells this one out as “Printed, ready to ship”.
- Fulfilled: the order has been marked fulfilled. This is a recorded state, not proof that anything left a building.
- Shipped: shipment or fulfillment progress has been recorded. Check tracking and Shopify sync separately.
- Delivered: delivery has been recorded.
- Cancellation requested: someone has asked for the order to be cancelled and it has not been resolved yet. The order is not cancelled while it sits here.
- Cancelled or Refunded: the order has that recorded end state. Neither is proof that a provider stopped production.
Each status shows as a colored pill next to the order number, so you can spot the stage at a glance from anywhere in the dashboard. Open any order to see its pill in the header.

For self-print orders, Mark as printed records that your team has printed the item. It does not add tracking or announce a shipment.
How statuses move forward
The dashboard offers actions appropriate to the recorded state and fulfillment route. It is not a free status picker. If an order advanced by mistake, contact support with the order number and what happened.
For physical self-print orders:
- New or Preparing can offer Mark as printed and Mark as shipped.
- Printed, ready to ship offers Mark as shipped.
- Shipped offers Mark as delivered.
For provider orders, use the recorded provider progress. Send to production may appear before dispatch; a buyer-waiting banner can own the release action while an edit window is open. See provider fulfillment.
Cancellation or refund of a Shopify order belongs in Shopify Admin. Use More actions > Manage cancellation or refund in Shopify Admin. Do not cancel or refund an order merely to correct a progress label.

Order status versus fulfillment status
There are two status fields, and they answer different questions.
The progress label summarizes the recorded stage. Needs attention appears alongside it when an actionable problem needs review.
The fulfillment status describes only the print side: where the file is in production. You may see values like submitted, in production, print ready, shipped, failed, and needs attention. For provider-routed work, compare this value with the matching record in the provider portal.
Check the Production section and any warning before taking action, even when the headline looks healthy. Completed print files are not proof of provider acceptance. Read handle fulfillment errors to distinguish render retry, provider recovery, and an order held for review.
Can I move an order back to a previous status?
The dashboard does not provide a free status picker. Contact support if a milestone was recorded by mistake. Do not cancel or refund merely to correct the label.
What does Printed, ready to ship mean?
It is the Fulfilled status for a self-print order. The item is made and waiting for you to post it, since there is no provider to send it to.
Why does my order say Shipped but the fulfillment status says failed?
The two fields track different things. A failed fulfillment status means the print side hit a problem, so check the fulfillment errors guide even when the order status looks fine.
