Publish a product to Shopify

Review what goes to Shopify, select the store and buying mode, publish, and verify each store's result.

Use the Publish screen for a first publication to an eligible connected store. Existing publications use the separate Update flow below. Start from the product page, save your changes, and review its publishing checks.

Check the product details, enabled variants, prices, provider costs, fulfillment route, and required design surfaces. Read each blocker and warning: an imported catalog product can still need costs or artwork before publishing succeeds.

Publish to a store for the first time

Select Publish in the product header. The Publish screen brings the choices and review together:

  1. Under Store, check which connected stores are selected.
  2. Under This goes to Shopify, review the title, description, images, variants, and other listing details. Use edit on the product page to correct them.
  3. Under How customers buy this, select an available mode: Linked, Embedded, or Full page.
  4. Read any Not ready to publish yet message, then choose Publish when ready.

Everything the publication needs is on one screen. A blocker sits at the top, in red, with a link that takes you to the field it names.

Available modes depend on the product. Linked is not offered for a design that requires shopper input. Review Embedded placement and replacement settings on the product’s store settings, and verify Full page has a valid design-page address.

Publish once and keep the screen open until Composerie reports the result. With multiple stores, inspect each result; some stores can succeed while another fails. Send as draft, when offered, saves a Shopify draft and does not make it live.

Update an existing publication

If the product is already published and has changes you have not pushed yet, use Update stores in the product header. When every store is in sync, the header shows no publish button. The update dialog shows the changes for each store. Review the selected updates, confirm them, and check each store’s result. Up-to-date publications are shown separately from those with pending changes. The first-publication screen does not list stores that already have a publication.

Check the per-store state

The Connected stores area on the product page shows each store on its own. Before a first publication it says so plainly: the store is connected, the product is not on it yet.

A connected store is not a published product. This card says which of the two you have.

Once a store has a publication, it gets a row of its own. Open that row for the store’s connection details: its status, when it last synced, the PDP mode it is using, and whether auto-push is on. The statuses are worth knowing before you need them: Pending publish means configured but not pushed live, Update available means the store has an older revision than the product, Needs attention means live but wanting a re-sync, and Reconnect needed means Composerie has lost access to the store.

After changing a published product, check whether the connected store needs an update. Do not assume a saved dashboard change is already live on every store.

Why is Publish unavailable?

Read the blocker on the Publish screen or product page. It can concern the product, selected store, connection, design-page address, or your permission to publish.

Why is Linked unavailable?

The design requires shopper input, so the product must use Embedded or Full page.

What does Pending publish mean?

The store connection is configured, but the selected product revision has not been confirmed live yet.

Can one product use different modes per store?

Each connected store has its own publication details. Review the mode inside that store's publication flow.
