Font metrics change the width, height, and line breaks of personalized text. Choose the typeface while the intended text layer is selected, then recheck the design at realistic customer lengths.
Open Typeface
Select the text on the canvas. A toolbar appears above it; click Edit there to open the properties panel. The first control under the tabs is the typeface, and it is labelled with the font the layer uses right now. Click it to open Typeface and see the list.

Search and apply
Type in the search field to narrow the list, then click a result. The canvas updates with that typeface straight away.

After changing the typeface:
- test the longest allowed customer value;
- check every surface that uses the text;
- review curved, outlined, or shadowed text again;
- open Customer Preview and test desktop and mobile.
When the text is customer-editable, the shopper only sees fonts allowed by that field’s configuration. The editor’s full typeface list is not automatically exposed to customers.
Use your own font
Upload the font file to the Media Library and it becomes available to your designs. Composerie takes TTF, OTF and WOFF2.
The file has to be one static face, and it is checked on the way in rather than at print time:
- a variable font is refused, so export the static instance you want first;
- a collection file that holds several faces is refused for the same reason;
- the file must be under 5 MiB;
- the font needs usable weight metadata, which any normally exported face has.
One file per weight and style
A static face carries exactly one weight and one style. If your text is bold, the bold file is what you upload. Setting a regular face to bold in the editor does not make the print file bold: it fails instead, with a message naming both numbers, along the lines of “The selected text requires 700 normal; uploaded bytes contain 400 normal.”
Upload the faces you actually use, and no more. Three files for regular, bold and italic cover most designs.
The file name becomes the family name
The name in the typeface list comes from the file name, not from the name stored inside the font, and the weight is stripped off it. Upload BrandSans-Regular.otf, BrandSans-Bold.otf and BrandSans-Italic.otf and all three arrive under one entry called Brand Sans, which is what you want: one family in the picker, three faces behind it.
That is also why the naming convention matters. A weight written after a hyphen or an underscore is recognised and removed; a weight written with a space is not, so Brand Sans Bold.otf becomes its own family called Brand Sans Bold sitting next to the real one. Name the files Family-Weight.otf and the picker stays clean.
What the print file actually uses
The renderer does not ask for a family. It asks for one exact face: the family, the weight and the style your text is set in. For that face it looks in your uploaded files first, then the faces Composerie ships, then a face it can fetch for a known family.
If none of those three has that exact face, the family is not registered for the render at all. The job still completes, and the renderer draws the text in its own default instead. That is the outcome to design around: not a substitution chosen to look like your font, just the next thing available.
Why did the text wrap after changing the font?
Fonts have different character widths. Resize the text box or choose a typeface that fits the allowed customer value.
Do shoppers see every editor font?
No. Customer-editable fields use their own allowed font choices.
What should I test before publishing?
Use the longest customer text, every relevant surface, and Customer Preview on desktop and mobile.
